The Vegetarian Myth

Peak Moment 191: What we eat is destroying both our bodies and the planet, according to author Lierre Keith, a recovering twenty-year vegan. While she passionately opposes factory farming of animals, she maintains that humans require nutrient-dense animal foods for good health. A grain-based diet is the basis for degenerative diseases we take for granted (diabetes, cancer, heart disease) - diseases of civilization. Annual grain production is destroying topsoil and creating deserts on a planetary scale. Lierre urges the restoration of perennial polycultures for longterm sustainability. =================== Audio and transcript of this show at www.peakmoment.tv Friend us on Facebook Peak Moment TV page www.facebook.com or Janaia www.facebook.com Follow @peakmomenttv on Twitter Because of viewers like you, this show is free to the world on YouTube. Reasons to be Vegetarian.

Meet your Meat documentary: www.youtube.com List of famous vegetarians: en.wikipedia.org I've wanted to make this video for a while now, as I'm really enthusiastic about vegetarianism. I'm just stating my own opinions here though, and I know some of you will disagree with the points I make, which is fine. Also, I'm sorry if I sound patronising at all in this video. I didn't mean to, and I DON'T think I'm better than anyone who eats meat, I just choose not to eat it for my own personal moral reasons. I hope this video at least gets people thinking about the topic though, and generates some discussion. Please feel free to leave comments with your thoughts on vegetarianism. Also, feel free to point out how annoying that little white piece of fluff is on my left shoulder xD

Vegetarian Bodybuilding

scoobysworkshop.com Being a vegetarian will not reduce your ability to add muscle, I'm one and it hasn't hurt me. Those who think vegetarians cant be successful bodybuilders either don't understand the different kinds of vegetarians or don't understand bodybuilding nutrition. Arnold fostered the incorrect view that you have to eat muscle to gain muscle. The trouble with the word "vegetarian" is that so many people have used it in so many different ways that it has basically become useless so it has been replaced by more specific and meaningful words. The useless word "vegetarian" has been replaced by the following two more specific and useful words: Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian: A vegetarian whose diet includes dairy products, eggs, vegetables, fruits, grains, and nuts Vegan: A strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products When people today say "Vegetarian" what they are really talking about is a lacto-ovo vegetarian. In other words, a diet that does not include the parts of an animal that were not given up freely. Animals happily give up their eggs and milk so vegetarians can eat those. One reason people mistakenly believe that vegetarians cant be bodybuilders is that they mistake vegans for vegetarians. The ability to consume eggs and dairy products makes an incredible difference. Vegans (those who consume no animal products whatsoever) are at a big disadvantage when it comes to adding muscle but vegetarians are not hindered at all -- lets look at why this is ...

Best Vegetarian Recipes l Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers

How to make Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers Video. Veggie Burgers are a nutritional alternative to beef burgers. Many people don't think of making their own veggie burgers but they are really easy to make at home. Store bought veggie burgers are nutritional but often very high in sodium and preservatives. You can substitute the eggs in this recipe with "flax eggs" which are a mix of 6 tbsp ground flax to 2 tbsp boiling water. The milk in this recipe can be substituted with either soya milk or rice milk. This makes the recipe completely vegan! Lentils are high in fiber which makes them a good protector against bowel cancer. I recommend organic, low sodium lentils if you are buying canned. They are an excellent source of protein and are an important source of B vitamins, especially B3, which is essential for both a healthy nervous system and digestive system. They are high in iron, zinc and calcium and are a good replacement for red meat. Like meat, the iron in lentils is better absorbed when they are eaten with a good source of vitamin C like leafy green vegetables. Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, a special type of fat that is essential for our bodies, but that the body cannot produce. (Re omega 3 see also flaxseeds.blogspot.com ) Walnuts are also a very good source of monounsaturated fats. Walnuts contain many powerful antioxidants, including ellagic and gallic acids, pus antioxidant phenols and vitamin E. The minerals copper and manganese are also ...

Vegetarian Chili Recipe: Soulful & Full of Flavor

Vegetarian chili that is full of soulful flavor and hearty enough to stick to your bones??? Say it aint so!!!! I'll admit vegetarian chili didn't sound that appealing to me at first. I guess I'm just not a real veggie lover (although I'm trying to be) I'm a meat & potatoes, (cakes, cookies, ice cream, pies, candy,) kinda girl and it just seemed like a cruel thing to do to chili...you know, adding all those vegetables and stuff. My oldest sister, who is a vegetarian, has been telling me how fabulous her vegetarian chili recipe is for the longest. Even though she is one of those "healthy people" I trust her when she tells me something vegetarian tastes good. She was raised on my mothers and grandmothers soulful cooking and knows how to doctor up those vegetarian dishes like a seasoned pro. Since so many of us are trying to watch our weight this time of year, I figured you would appreciate a hearty, savory, yet healthy dish to add to your recipe collection. (you can thank for my sister Nikki, although I did tweak this recipe a bit from the original) This vegetarian chili recipe does not disappoint! It's hearty, mild enough for my toddler, yet my spicy, meat- chili-loving husband gave it 5 stars! I found myself eating my second bowl without even noticing it. It's loaded with fresh vegetables like zucchini, peppers and corn, three kinds of beans, and a perfect blend of savory spices! This vegetarian chili can easily be customized with your favorite veggies or kick up the ...

Vegetarian Diet Food Preparation For Traveling

Get your FREE 7-day Vegetarian Meal Plan from: www.KardenasKitchen.com Plus, you'll discover the 10 foods NOT to eat on a weight loss diet. Hi! I'm Kardena Pauza from EasyVeggieMealPlans.com. Today we are getting ready to go to the airport on a last minute trip. This is a great opportunity for me to show you what I do to prepare for a long trip. I want to bring a lot of healthy and easy to prepare foods for trips like these. I took some vegetables from my refrigerator and chopped them up (it took me about 15 minutes of prep time) into a vegetable salad. This will last us for 2 days (broccoli, spinach, beets, asparagus, radishes, fresh corn). It's a light salad that will work for us because we aren't going to be very active on this trip. This salad is full of nutrients and will make us feel very light and energized. Keep in mind if you are traveling on a plane, you can bring food, but not liquids. So, instead of storing my dressing in a container, I'm going to drizzle it on my salad and take it with me that way. This is my favorite quick and easy salad dressing, which you can find in my Easy Veggie Meal Plans, which you can get online. I make it by drizzling some sunflower seed oil, agave nectar and amino acids for the salt and fresh-squeezed lemon juice. It's great! You can take a lot of healthy snacks on the plane (vegetables, nuts, seeds). I'm also going to pack some celery sticks and cucumbers. I sprinkle a little bit of seasoning on a cucumber which is great. It's ...

Be Vegetarian

www.siddhayatan.org http www.siddhalishree.com (blog) Dr. Acharya Yogeesh speaks on Vegetarianism. We are not born as meat-eaters and our human body was not meant to digest meat. He talks about the first animal rights movement in history alongside animal cruelty. 3 part series. Be Vegetarian There is currently great awareness about vegetarianism especially among celebrities. Truly, we are born vegetarian. The most obvious factor is that our teeth don't match those of meat eating animals. We lack claws to prey on our food source. Animals can digest raw meat without cleansing. Humans cannot do that. All our foods have to be washed of dirt and insects. Our intestines are very long in comparison to animals. Animals can digest meat very fast because of it. In humans digesting meat takes about three days, which means that food spoils in the intestines causing sickness and disease. Meat also clogs our arteries. In Hindu culture our ancestors who were hunters ate meat. Unfortunately, their blood is still running in our veins. We need to purify it. Thousands of years ago however, out of realization that eating beef was harmful they declared the cow a sacred animal. When people considered the cow sacred they could no longer kill it. The cow is also considered like a mother because we are raised on her milk. The animal rights movement started in order to protect the life of animals. Krishna's cousin, a Jain tirthankar, had this vision. Krishna arranged for his wedding in a city in ...
